Medical areas of interest

Graduate Medicine and Surgery at the University of Milan in 1994 and specialized in Internal Medicine at the same University in 1999, he acquired the title of Doctor of Research (PhD) in Neuroscience at the University of Perugia.

He has been working at the UOC Thrombosis Center and Hemorrhagic Diseases, Vascular Medicine and Non-oncological Hematology at the IRCCS Istituto Clinico Humanitas in Rozzano (Milan), of which he has been Director since 2014. He is also a contract professor of Blood Diseases and Internal Medicine at Humanitas University- Hunimed.

The UOC he manages is a cutting-edge service for the correct management of diagnosis and treatment of venous thromboembolic disease (deep and superficial vein thrombosis, pulmonary thromboembolism, visceral vein thrombosis) and arterial (myocardial infarction, stroke, peripheral arterial disease) and, above all, of the thrombosis in atypical sites, such as the vascular circulation of the retina, the auditory system and the placental circulation during pregnancy, adopting a multidisciplinary approach and in collaboration with the various medical and surgical specialties.

In particular, it carries out clinical and instrumental diagnostic activity (vascular echocolordoppler) and research on the causes, diagnosis and treatment of thrombotic and hemorrhagic diseases congenital and acquired. Clinical activity also includes the diagnosis and management of patients affected by coagulation disorders in the haemorrhagic sense, such as haemophilia, von Willebrand's disease and platelet diseases.

Since 2024 he has been an internist at the Bielo+Hub medical center in Venice.

Research areas of interest

In recent years, he has devoted himself with particular interest to the experimentation, as Principal Investigator in International Clinical Studies, of new antithrombotic drugs and, above all, anticoagulants, which are about to be marketed and which will constitute a valid and safe alternative to traditional oral anticoagulant therapy (OAT).

He is also dealing with particular interest in research on causes of idiopathic infertility and the usefulness and efficacy of certain therapeutic strategies, such as the use of anticoagulant drugs, in improving the outcomes of assisted fertilization procedures. He is the author of numerous articles in international scientific journals and a speaker at numerous national and international conferences.
